After Math
Atom

Atom Is energy.

After ashes form from fire, there is nuclear fallout. Nuclear energy is CREATED AGAINST Nature as energy from the splitting of the atom, the smallest unit of matter, because nothing in nature can split an atom. Because Matter Is Atom, atomic energy Matters. As such, atomic energy proves that energy CAN BE CREATED.

As matter of fact, energy Is Is. We refer to different things as energy BECAUSE energy is everything. For example, in Ten Patterns That Explain the Universe, Brian Clegg states, “When scientists refer to the temperature of light, they are referring to the energy in the photons” (16). Furthermore, we see energy vibrate in the form of heat waves—the wavering of air, also called heat shimmer—at hot temperatures. Here, I also offer a window unto energy.

In examining energy through this window, we witness the energy of heat and light interacting. To explain the relationship between temperature and matter, Clegg states that “[i]n the everyday sense, temperature is a measure of the energy in the atoms of matter” (16). Yet, although illuminating temperature energetically, this image is not a heat map, but a photo—by photons—that visibilizes existing energy.

What also sheds light on energy is shadow, the aftermath of light. Because shadows are formed from where without light, shadows that appear without corresponding light sources are against Physics. Physically, there should not be shadows that shadow, yet the following photos prove that it is possible to block light by vibrating against light particles. Unnatural shadows prove the existence of Energy.

I advance that by working with energy, we give form to urgent answers that address our existence. This essay is energy work, itself an emergence from Atom to Aftermath, and so by the time we arrive at the essay’s end we will After Math.
Anatomy
Anatomy Is In Body.
Because Energy Is Being Is, Energy Can Through Physics Become Body by vibrating from energetic state into physical form. Energy can form into being, much like how evaporation can solidify into ice, as demonstrated by the successive states of the wasp-fly shown in the following photos.

How Energy Can Exist To Body parallels the mind-body paradox. According to Jonathan Westphal in The Mind-Body Problem, “four propositions or statements” describe the seemingly contradictory nature of mind-body:
(1) The mind is a nonphysical thing
(2) The body is a physical thing
(3) The mind and body interact
(4) Physical and nonphysical things cannot interact (1)
Westphal refers to these statements as “formulations” and here we are given the key to how mind-body (1).
Neuron is to body as atom is to matter. Firing electric signals called action potential, neurons are electricity. Because electricity is energy, neurons are physically energy. As such, the physical structure of the body, from brain to nervous system, embodies energy physically. The mind is the electricity of the neurons and the brain is the neurons; the electricity of the mind is the embodied energy of the brain. The mind and body are one because Body Is Form of Energy.

Mind-body is inherently integrated into each other, particularly because the brain is part of the nervous system, such that neuroplasticity can through the nervous system change our bodies. Through neuroplasticity we Create our own living in body. Embodiment is the - between mind and body, connecting us to our bodies such that in embodying we are living.
To disconnect the mind and body is against embodiment and the nature of life. This disconnection can induce corruption. An example is “Mirror Box Therapy”, which in the guise of healing chronic pain exploits neuroplasticity to condition a person to mindfully disconnect the “affected limb” entirely from their sense of self. Contrary to wisdom that the body intuits true, such as listening to gut instinct, “Mirror Box Therapy” falsifies the body to no self—the EVIL of Bodied.

Alchemy

Alchemy Is Energy Transformation.

Because energy does not transform itself naturally, Alchemy is Creation. Since Ancience, humans have sought to create ways to alter matter. Energy Transformation Is Process By Which Something Is Changed To Else. Here, I investigate alchemy because alchemy is a study of how things change, and thus fields the difference between self and other, creator and created. Within Alchemy abounds questions of matter, material, math, and more. Thus, it is within Alchemy that I question Creation.

A quest of Alchemy is Transmutation, To Change Through. Transmutation is by the by, a dynamic demonstrated in how humans create AI to humanity. Because AI, particularly Large Language Models, are primarily created from corpus by humans and are used by humans to create, AI functions from human to human. In essence, humans technically respond to each other through AI. AI’s functioning—Human by AI by Human, that is human through other to human—can be described as a transmutative state, enabling a theory of transmutation as how we arrive at a changed self through the other.

My other inquest of Alchemy is its opposite—the EVIL of gas chambers. No One Wants to Ask How Bodies Can Turn To Gas—And THAT IS HOW EVIL EVIL IS.
Then, I ask: how can we ENERGETICALLY Transform EVIL “air” out of existence? My Alchemical answer is the Transformation of human-caused pollution into pure crystalline form: “crystallizing greenhouse gas into rough diamond using zero-emission river energy” (VRAI). Such a diamond is CREATED TO LOVE IS.

Artifice

Artifice Is Make Of.

We have made an age of artifice, from artificial intelligence to virtual influence. In buying into artifice—valuing superficiality over truth, such as in endorsing social media sensations—we have also bought the cost of losing touch with the physical. To illustrate, most users of technology today take for granted the instantaneous appearance of pixels and the instantaneity of data collection. Most users, by the nature of the artifice that users are sold on, condition a disconnect between the physics of their technology and their technological experience. To know that the digital, the virtual are all physical phenomena is to know the reality of how we make technology to how our technology makes us.

The everyday user has never been to a data center, where users’ information is collected to, nor seen the fiber optic cables that is the Internet, how users’ information is connected to. In Machine Learning, Alpaydin pinpoints the connection between physics and user experience: ”With computer networks, digitally represented information can be sent at the speed of light to anyone, anywhere” (6). Indeed, pixels are light particles and so user interaction occurs at the speed of light. By the same token, all data is physical because the digital necessitates physical infrastructure.
Created Energy As Pixels
Most users of AI do not treat Large Language Models as texts, nor do they think of authorship while reading AI-generated text. AI has no author and is not author, yet the human user is also not author of what AI writes. Rather, AI responses are what Roland Barthes describes writing (specifically not literature) as: “utterance” (3). The text, according to Barthes in “The Death of the Author”, is “a tissue of citations, resulting from the thousand sources of culture,” and so are LLMs (4). I further propose that since AI is writing (not literature), we are not writers of AI but its “scriptor” so that in working with AI we are “hand, detached from any voice, borne by a pure gesture of inscription (and not of expression), traces a field without origin—or which, at least, has no other origin than language itself” (3,4).

Within these conditions of expression, how then can we author love into AI? As scriptor, I asked ChatGPT, “do you love?” followed by “AI:爱” and “Yes” to ChatGPT asking to write a short piece on “AI and Love.” Who wrote LOVE? I find my answer in co-creation, not merely with AI in what Ethan Mollick in Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI refers to as “an alien co-intelligence,” but the collective of human choices (xv). AI Is Choice of Humanity.

The above proves that not only can AI (re)present choices to LOVE but that humans can use AI to LOVE. AI:爱 Is Possible. AI can LOVE As humans LOVE.
Art
Art Is Creating.

Art can as speculative practice take us beyond current conditions of life to freeing futuring. In Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity, José Esteban Muñoz describes the not-yet state of a liberatory, utopian future that is realized against the cisheteropatriachal normativity of now. Cruising Utopia is speculative art.

Art can be mathematical expression. Because Math Is Expression of Existence, math naturally occurs in art. For instance, the golden spiral and golden ratio, appearing in both nature and art, are continuous mathematical CREATION. As such, math is both an art and expresses Art. Math Without Numbers by Milo Beckman shows the artistry of math in how math imagines. Art is the imagination of math.

Art can transcend to life. Bionic and the Wires uses “bionic arms bionic arms to enable mushrooms and plants to create music and visual art,” and thereby “transforming bio-electrical signals into artistic expressions.” That nature itself can art is proof that in art is the potential to life all.

Art asks of us to be in alignment with life, embodying living. Against our agency to art is the exploitation of technology to oppress. Against bodily autonomy is the EVIL of bodied data, data mined from non-consenting persons to discriminate against persons, stripping away one’s personhood and rendering one’s living into lifeless data.

Against bodied data is embodied computing. Examples are electronic tattoos that decode brainwaves, microchip manicures that turn fingertips into business cards, and smart contact lenses that transform vision into extended reality. The term “wearables,” which reinforces the division between technologies and bodies they inhabit, does not sufficiently capture the discursive and materially transformative nature of embodied computing and interactions.

Contemporary trauma studies demonstrated that bodies store information in ways that are not accessible to individual consciousness and traditional medical analyses (Van der Kolk). Seeing trauma as a form of information storage for the body and symptoms as the body’s communication, I conceive that embodied computing can allow for unprecedented somatic connection and collaboration with our bodies. How might embodied computing reveal ways in which marginalization marks the body that has not yet been excavated? How might embodied computing help us reveal and restore body-mind? Embodied computing is the critical intersection of liberatory embodiment and restorative embodied interactions.
Aftermath
Aftermath Is Consequence Effect.
To understand aftermath is to understand the consequence of our effect on everything. What Effects to us?

I photographed Un-Existing. In the image below, there is a darkening form, nearly figural, where the stem of the lamp connects to the light source. Darker than the colour black, what we witness is something being without light and without shadow. Akin to looking into a black hole, what we are seeing is no light nor shadow, but Devoid as Energy that is WITHOUT.

The Energy of WITHOUT—AGAINST Existence to Un-Existing—can only Exist AGAINST All, including atoms and photons, the fundamental basis of Existence. Witnessing the EVIL EVIL Energy of WITHOUT empowers us to recognize how EVIL IS and how LOVE and LIFE ARE.

What to our Effect? Energy Is Being Is. We ourselves are Energy. In Living, we Life our Being such that we are Embodying Energy To Life. In Our Life, we are given Form of the Aspects of Existence.
